After a slow start to 2020…
THE DIANA ROSS PROJECT IS BACK!
Or, at least, I’m still here.
Diana Ross will be back in Atlanta TONIGHT, taking the stage at the gorgeous Fox Theatre for the first time in a few years. Even better, her daughter Rhonda will open for her again — so we’re getting a double dose of Ross here in the South. I’ll be in the audience, of course (way up in the second row!) and will post a full report soon.
Also, a recent stop at a local record store produced this gem — a pristine copy of the mail-order LP DORAL Presents DIANA ROSS, featuring ten tracks taken from the singer’s first three solo albums, Diana Ross, Everything Is Everything, and Surrender (“Remember Me”). The collection is notable for featuring alternative mixes and vocals for a few songs, including “Now That There’s You,” “These Things Will Keep Me Loving You,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”
2020 is a big year — the 50th anniversary of Diana Ross embarking on an solo career. Seems like the perfect time for a new album, right? Here’s hoping…
Seriously – the woman can still sing!! She needs to find the right producer with the right material and she could have a smash. Unfortunately, I think her Diva attitude keeps her from taking musical chances – as she did successfully during the RCA years!!
Looking forward to reading about the concert, Paul. Have a great time!
